KYC Readiness Assessment
A KYC readiness assessment is a structured scoring of how mature your Know Your Customer programme is across verification, automation, fraud defence, AML screening, audit-readiness and tooling. Zyphe's free 10-question assessment scores you out of 30 and places you in one of four tiers - At Risk, Developing, Solid, or Best-in-Class - with tier-specific next steps.
Used by compliance officers, MLROs, fintech founders and product leaders. Takes about three minutes. Free, no signup to start.

How the score works
Each of the ten questions has four answer options scored 0, 1, 2, or 3 points - from manual and reactive at the low end to real-time, automated and continuously monitored at the high end. The maximum total is 30.
Themes covered: verification depth, automation rate, average verification time, drop-off tracking, fraud and false-positive handling, AML and sanctions screening cadence, geographic and document coverage, audit-trail readiness, vendor consolidation, and overall confidence in passing a regulatory exam.
Question design draws on FATF Recommendations, the Wolfsberg Group Anti-Money Laundering principles, FinCEN guidance, and operating patterns we've observed across Zyphe customers in fintech, banking, crypto, marketplaces and gaming.
The four result tiers
- At Risk 0-9
- Largely manual, reactive compliance with high fraud and audit exposure.
- Developing 10-17
- Foundations in place but inconsistent automation and monitoring.
- Solid 18-24
- Mostly automated and audit-ready, with room to optimise cost and UX.
- Best-in-Class 25-30
- Mature, automated, continuously monitored compliance.
Why a KYC compliance checklist matters now
KYC and AML enforcement has tightened across the EU (AMLA, MiCA), UK (FCA), US (FinCEN beneficial ownership rule), and APAC. At the same time, deepfake-driven synthetic identity fraud has made manual review and basic document checks insufficient on their own. A structured KYC readiness assessment surfaces the specific gaps a regulator or fraud ring will exploit first - before they do.
Teams that score in At Risk or Developing typically share a few patterns: manual review still dominates, drop-off is high but un-instrumented, AML screening happens only at onboarding, and the identity stack is a patchwork of three or more point solutions. Each of those is a fixable problem with a measurable ROI.
Teams that score Solid or Best-in-Class have usually consolidated onto a unified platform, run continuous AML monitoring, automate their audit trail, and treat onboarding conversion as a first-class metric. The remaining wins for them are at the frontier - decentralised identity, KYC reusability across products, and privacy-preserving verification.
The assessment maps each gap to a recommended next step: a Zyphe product, a published guide, a webinar, or a conversation with our compliance team.
